Colette Hurrey-Sherard, Assistant Director/Performer (sheard09@mail.com) was born in Manhattan New York, where she graced the pavements of the NYC streets until she was a teenager.  In 1977, her family made the move to Goldsboro, North Carolina where, soon after, Colette began her performing arts career as a dancer with her father, Raymond “Nilaja” Hurrey’s (the original percussionist for The Last Poets), dance company, The Cultural Movement, Inc.  After Sherard’s vast experience in West African dance and music, she studied and implemented several dance ministries in the North Carolina area.  Along with serving as one of Hurrey-UP’s assistant directors, Colette is also a Travel Professional with Victory Travel; guaranteeing the best quality services and prices in the travel industry (victory06@gmail.com).
